Inclusive Playground Coming to Jackson Street Park in Willard!

Our Mission
Better Together Playground is a nonprofit organization created by local community members, with the support of the Willard Parks and Rec Department, to provide a state of the art, inclusive playground at Jackson Street Park. We understand the importance of sensory rich and physically rewarding experiences to a child's development and believe that every child in our community deserves to have the benefits of outdoor play. Our mission is to provide children with a safe place to learn and play, set a standard for inclusive practices, and strengthen our community by providing a large, innovative play area for community members to gather and friendships to form.

When Everyone is Included, Everyone Wins
The benefits of an inclusive playground are not limited to children with disabilities.
Additional benefits include:
- Allowing parents and grandparents with disabilities access to play and supervise children
- Facilitating social experiences among people of varying abilities
- Developing motor, sensory, cognition, and social skills for ALL children
- Improving health and well-being of all ages through physical activity

Don't know what to gift a loved one?
Give the gift of play.
For a donation of $250 you can leave a lasting legacy in honor of someone (or yourself!) to be recognized on our donation recognition sign at the entrance to the playground.
$250 will sponsor a square foot of the smooth surfacing that will be used throughout the playground. Smooth surfacing is the most accessible playground surfacing available. Its smooth, even terrain removes barriers for those who use w/c or mobility devices and it provides safety for anyone with a high risk of falling.
The Vision
Better Together Playground will provide 10,000 square feet of play area to accommodate our growing community.

- Shaded areas for comfort and protection
- Access for all ages and abilities
- Sensory rich experiences
- Interactive and parallel play opportunities
- Research based equipment to promote motor development
